Custom Fenders By Portland Company
Fenders have been used for many years for protection from people getting too close to the fire. More so now for beauty. Most fenders today are low enough not to interfere with loading wood into the fireplace, and give a beautiful reflection of the fire off the brass. It's a whole different dimension added to the fireplace. In the old days we were making many more seat fenders. With the leather top nail for sitting, one could relax, warming ones backside while conversing with friends. We still custom make this almost forgotton elegant feature to the fireplace.
We can make any shape or size fender:
- Need opening of fireplace size and hearth width & depth. Normal overlap on each side past opening is 2 to 4 " on inside measurement of fender. Normal extension onto hearth is 5 to 8 " although we have surrounded the entire hearth with the fender.
- Please call for assistance.
Even though pictures shown below are for standard fenders, most custom jobs are made with Ball, urn or pointed finials, which extend above the top rod.
An elegant accessory for every fireplace, these Fenders offer a choice of finishes and finials.
